Starting September 3, 2026, Kazakhstan has imposed a ban on the import of apples from abroad, which will remain in effect until December 31, 2026, inclusive. The restriction applies to deliveries by all modes of transport from third countries and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), according to infohub.kz.
The corresponding order by the acting Minister of Agriculture was published on September 3 on the 'Paragraph' information system. The document provides for a number of exceptions. In particular, the ban does not apply to transit shipments of apples through Kazakhstan's territory, including the movement of goods from one EAEU state to another through the republic, provided that the final destination is not Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, apples cleared under the customs export procedure in the country of departure before September 3 are not subject to the restriction, provided that an export declaration and transport documents confirming the shipment before that date are available. For goods transported under the customs transit regime, a transit declaration is required.
It should be recalled that earlier the Ministry of Agriculture proposed introducing a temporary ban on apple imports into Kazakhstan. Initially, the restriction was planned to be imposed from August 1 and remain in effect until the end of 2026.
