Kazakhstan has opened applications for a competition for state grants allocated by local executive bodies, reports infohub.kz.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education noted that akimats annually provide grants to train specialists in fields that are in demand and priority for the regions.
This year, local executive bodies have allocated 2,392 educational grants for bachelor's, master's, and residency programs. The distribution of grants by region is as follows: Astana – 303 grants, Shymkent – 285 grants, East Kazakhstan Region – 270 grants, West Kazakhstan Region – 211 grants, Abai Region and Turkistan Region – 200 grants each, Akmola Region – 199 grants, Karaganda Region – 198 grants, Atyrau Region – 187 grants, Mangystau Region – 163 grants. The remaining regions have provided about 100 grants each.
The ministry explained: "To participate in the competition, applicants must submit an application to the admissions committee of their chosen university. The application must be accompanied by an education document, a certificate of the main UNT, a copy of an identity document, as well as documents confirming the right to benefits (if any)."
It is specified that information about the deadlines for accepting documents can be obtained from local executive bodies and university admissions committees. The decision on awarding educational grants is made by a special commission established under the relevant akimat.
Acceptance of documents for admission to higher education institutions will last until August 25.
