The Asian Aquatic Championships kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand, with Kazakhstan securing its first medal, reports infohub.kz.

Kazakh athlete Viktor Druzin won gold in artistic swimming, becoming the Asian champion for the second consecutive time.

In the technical solo program, Druzin scored 231.8550 points, earning first place and reaffirming his status as Asia's strongest in the discipline.

Silver and bronze went to representatives of China and Thailand.

Druzin also won the Asian Championships last year, making this his second straight continental title.
