Since the start of the autumn season, Kazakhstan has recorded 51,937 cases of acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) — 1.8 times fewer than during the same period last year. No flu cases have been registered to date, and no new, previously unknown respiratory viruses have been detected in the country, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the ministry has been conducting weekly monitoring of ARVI, flu and COVID-19 incidence since September.

"Since September, the Ministry of Health has been conducting weekly monitoring of ARVI, flu and COVID-19 incidence. Since the beginning of September, 51,937 ARVI cases have been registered in the country. This is 1.8 times lower than the figure for the same period last year. No flu cases have been registered to date. A decline is also being observed in COVID-19. Since the beginning of 2026, 87 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered — 10.3 times fewer than during the same period in 2025," the ministry said.

At the same time, COVID-19 continues to circulate alongside other seasonal respiratory viruses. No new, previously unknown viruses have been detected in Kazakhstan.

"The circulation of respiratory infections traditionally intensifies in autumn. The Ministry of Health continues to track the epidemiological situation in the country on a weekly basis," the Health Ministry said.

To prevent ARVI, flu and other respiratory infections, Kazakhstanis are advised to: ventilate rooms regularly; wash their hands more often and observe personal hygiene rules; avoid close contact with people showing signs of illness where possible; avoid crowded places during periods of increased incidence; cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or the crook of their elbow when coughing or sneezing; and, if fever, cough, sore throat or other symptoms appear, stay at home and seek medical help promptly.

It is noted that following simple preventive measures helps reduce the risk of infection and the spread of seasonal respiratory infections.

Recall that earlier this week, residents of Astana complained on social media that they were suffering from a malaise with strange symptoms — in addition to a cough, citizens reported experiencing dry mouth and itchy eyes.
