On the final full medal day of the 20th Summer Asian Games in Japan, Kazakhstan's team added seven more medals of various colors to its tally. However, unlike Friday, Kazakh athletes were unable to secure any gold medals on this day, according to infohub.kz.
Three Kazakh representatives became vice-champions of the 2026 Asian Games: jiu-jitsu fighter Merey Kabdullaev, competing in the up to 85 kg weight category, judokas in the mixed team tournament, and the men's water polo team.
Bronze medals for the national team were brought by gymnasts in the group all-around — Zhasmin Zhunusbaeva, Aida Khakimzhanova, Madina Myrzabay, Aizere Nurmagambetova, and Kristina Chepulskaya, who took third place in the final. Marian Zhuravleva won bronze in jiu-jitsu in the up to 63 kg category. Freestyle wrestler Nurkozha Kaipanov (74 kg) and female wrestler Nilufar Raimova (57 kg) also stepped onto the third tier of the podium.
Raimova's teammate on the women's wrestling team, Shugyla Omirbek, competing in the up to 53 kg weight class, fell just one step short of bronze. Akmaral Yerekesheva finished fourth in the individual all-around final of rhythmic gymnastics, while Aibota Yertaikyzy placed fifth in the same discipline.
Taekwondo athletes Samirkhon Ababakirov and Beibarys Kablаn ended their performances at the quarterfinal stage. Togzhan Kaznabek and Nazym Makhmutova were eliminated in the round of 16.
Kazakhstan's women's rugby sevens team finished fifth overall, while the men's team ended in tenth place. Kazakh volleyball players completed the Asian Games in eleventh place.
After the fourteenth day of the Asian Games, Kazakhstan's team retained eighth place in the unofficial medal standings. The Kazakh team can no longer move higher in the overall standings, as only equestrian jumping events will be held on the final day of the Games.
The 20th Summer Asian Games in Japan officially opened on September 19 and will conclude on October 4. The multi-sport event, featuring athletes from 45 countries, will award 460 sets of medals: 217 for men, 204 for women, and 39 in mixed categories. Kazakhstan's team at the 2026 Asian Games includes 558 athletes competing in 35 sports.
