Kazakhstan's national team delivered a world record and five medals in a single day of competition at the 2026 Asian Games, though Monday brought no gold for the country's athletes, infohub.kz reports.
After the latest day of the 2026 Asian Games, Uzbekistan's team extended its lead over Kazakhstan in the race for fourth place in the overall standings.
In addition, the disqualification of Yasmina Toksanbayeva was officially upheld, leaving the track and field athlete without a medal in the marathon race walk, where she had finished first.
Kazakhstan's weightlifting team claimed two silver medals on September 28. Alexey Churkin (up to 85 kg) also set a world record in the snatch. Nurgisa Adiletuly (up to 95 kg) was the other medalist.
Adelina Zems took silver in the 400-meter hurdles at the Asian Games. Kazakhstan's artistic swimming team won bronze in the team event. Adilet Akhmetgali (up to 81 kg) earned a similar medal in kurash wrestling.
Kazakhstan's team remained in fifth place in the overall standings, ahead of Thailand due to a higher number of silver medals. Uzbekistan solidified fourth place, winning two golds on Monday.
