The 2026 Central Asian Athletics Championships concluded in Uzbekistan, with Kazakhstan's team securing ten gold medals, reports infohub.kz.
On the final day, Kazakh athletes added three more top honors. Zelimkhan Nasyrov won the triple jump with a leap of 16.11 meters. Uzbekistan's Ikhtiyor Akhmadjanov took second (15.39), and Singapore's Lee Jing Yi Gabriel placed third (15.19).
In the women's 4x100-meter relay, Kazakhstan's team of Darya Gridasova, Margarita Nazarenko, Antonina Chernyshova, and Yulia Bashmanova finished first in 47.84 seconds. Turkmenistan came second (48.38), and Saudi Arabia third (49.51).
Kazakhstan's Viktoriya An won the 200-meter dash in 24.05 seconds. Uzbekistan's Laylo Allaberganova (24.25) and Georgia's Ani Mamatsashvili (24.78) rounded out the top three.
In total, Kazakhstan won 24 medals at the championships: ten gold, eight silver, and six bronze. They finished second in the overall standings, behind Uzbekistan (22-20-19).
