In August 2026, the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market (ARDFM) reviewed 14,700 complaints from Kazakh citizens and legal entities regarding the operations of financial organizations. The number of complaints fell by 3% over the month, with 47.7% of all complaints concerning banks, according to infohub.kz.
Certain categories of complaints, however, showed growth. The ARDFM received 1,288 complaints about blocked and frozen bank accounts — 11% more than the previous month. The share of such complaints in the total volume also rose from 8% to 9%.
The largest share — 41% of complaints — involved loan debt settlement: 6,000 complaints, down 6% from the previous month. Another 18% of complaints concerned clarification of legislation, and 12% involved consulting and servicing.
1,000 people approached the ARDFM to dispute credit data, while 193 complaints involved fraud cases.
Earlier, lawmakers proposed reviewing the practice of blocking citizens' bank accounts over overdue loans.
