Kazakhstan's women's basketball team suffered its second straight defeat at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, falling 88-23 to the host nation, infohub.kz reports.

Japan dominated from the opening minutes and steadily extended its lead throughout the game. The quarter scores were 23-9, 25-6, 23-5, 17-3.

Boris Fatkulin's squad failed to score more than ten points in any of the four quarters. The final margin was 65 points.

It was Kazakhstan's second heavy loss of the tournament. In its opening game, the national team fell to the Philippines 55-88.

Kazakhstan's next game is against Hong Kong on September 22. The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the playoffs.
