Starting September 1, 2026, Kazakhstan will introduce mandatory digital marking for beer and beer drinks in glass bottles, reports infohub.kz.

According to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance, products produced or imported after this date must bear a Data Matrix code.

The marking will be phased in: from February 1, 2026, for products in kegs; from September 1, 2026, for glass bottles; and from January 1, 2027, for cans.

"Further, full traceability of products will be ensured with electronic processing and confirmation of documents during their transfer between market participants," the committee noted.

The committee added that digital marking will allow tracking the path of goods from producer or importer to retail sale, which will enhance market transparency.

Participants in the beer market must register in the information system at tanba.markirovka.kz and start registering product cards. It is recommended to complete this procedure in advance to obtain marking codes.

Unmarked beer produced before the mandatory marking date can be sold for one year.
