Kazakhstan's women's boxing team wrapped up its run at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan with two bronze medals, courtesy of Alua Balkibekova and Natalya Bogdanova, both of whom fell one step short of the final, infohub.kz reports.
In the 51-kilogram weight class, Balkibekova faced Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam in the semifinals. The Kazakh fighter lost to her opponent by unanimous decision, 0:5.
In the 75-kilogram category, Bogdanova met India's Lovlina Borgohain in the semifinals. The bout ended in a split decision in favor of the Indian athlete, 3:2.
With that, Kazakhstan's women's boxing team concluded its appearance at the 2026 Games with two bronze medals to its name.
The day before, Kazakhstan team captain Aibek Oralbay advanced to the final in the over-90-kilogram weight class. In the semifinals, he defeated India's Narender by unanimous decision, 5:0.
The 20th Summer Asian Games in Japan officially opened on September 19. The competition, featuring athletes from 45 countries, will award 460 sets of medals. Kazakhstan's team at the 2026 Asian Games comprises 558 athletes competing in 35 sports.
