The coaching staff of the Kazakhstan national boxing team has determined the lineup for the 20th Summer Asian Games, which will be held in Japan, reports the website infohub.kz.
Eleven Kazakhstani boxers will compete in the tournament – six men and five women. The head coach of the Kazakhstan men's team, Nurzhan Nasanov, has selected the following athletes: Makhmud Sabyrkhan (55 kg), Orazbek Asylkulov (60 kg), Torekhan Sabyrkhan (70 kg), Sabyrzhan Akkalykov (80 kg), Nurbek Oralbai (90 kg), and Aibek Oralbai (over 90 kg).
Most of the men's team members performed successfully at the 2026 Asian Championships in Ulaanbaatar. Asylkulov, Akkalykov, Nurbek Oralbai, and Aibek Oralbai became continental champions, Torekhan Sabyrkhan won silver, and Makhmud Sabyrkhan took bronze.
Earlier, the women's lineup was announced. By the decision of the head coach of the women's national team, Yeldos Saidalin, the following will go to the Asian Games: Alua Balkibekova (51 kg), Nazym Kyzaibai (54 kg), Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60 kg), Aida Abikeyeva (65 kg), and Natalya Bogdanova (75 kg).
In total, 11 sets of medals will be contested in boxing – six for men and five for women. Kazakhstan will be represented in every weight category of the Olympic boxing program at the Asian Games.
The boxing competitions will start on September 21. The semifinals will be held on September 29 and 30, and all finals on October 2.
The 20th Summer Asian Games will take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The program includes 43 sports, comprising 71 disciplines, with 469 sets of medals to be awarded.
At the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, the Kazakhstan team finished with 80 medals – 10 gold, 22 silver, and 48 bronze – and took 11th place in the overall medal standings.
