The question of when official calls will be labeled to protect Kazakh citizens from fraudsters was discussed in the corridors of the government. Journalists approached First Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Rostislav Konyashkin to ask for the exact timeline for launching the system, and whether all telecom operators will be connected simultaneously, reports infohub.kz.
Konyashkin confirmed that under recently adopted laws, mandatory labeling for businesses has been introduced. According to him, this will significantly reduce the risks of cyber fraud and fraudulent operations in general. "When you receive a call from any legal entity, the name will immediately appear on your screen, even if the number is not saved in your contacts. We are currently carrying out the necessary technical measures, and I cannot yet give a specific launch date," the vice minister explained.
It was previously reported in July that internet access, IP telephony, and trunking services will only be provided by licensed operators. Additionally, calls from official entities will be labeled to protect against fraudsters. The law comes into effect at the end of August.
