Beknur Nesipbayev, General Director of Astana Motors, explained at a cabinet briefing why Kazakhstan is ramping up new car production. According to him, the country's car fleet currently totals about 5.5 million vehicles, with more than half being in service for over 10–20 years. These cars need to be replaced with new ones, so plants have been built to supply the market with new Chinese and Korean cars, reports infohub.kz.
"These cars need to be replaced, and they need to be replaced with new ones. Therefore, we built a plant that can supply the Kazakhstani market with reliable new Chinese cars. We have a Hyundai plant, and colleagues in Kostanay produce cars," said Beknur Nesipbayev.
He emphasized that investments in automotive enterprises are aimed at renewing Kazakhstan's car fleet. "All these investments are made to provide Kazakhstani people with new cars and ensure that the car fleet is renewed," the speaker noted.
According to the company head, about 230,000 new cars are sold annually in Kazakhstan.
