In the first six months of 2026, Kazakhstani motorists spent 179.6 billion tenge at car service and repair stations, which is 25% more than in the same period last year, reports infohub.kz.
However, in real terms, excluding inflation, the market grew by only 8.1%. This means that a significant part of the increase in turnover is due to higher prices for services.
In June 2026, car maintenance and repair costs were on average 13.5% higher than a year earlier. Since the beginning of the year, prices have risen by another 7.5%, with the most noticeable jump occurring in April – by 4.6% in a single month.
Over the year, car service prices increased the most in Pavlodar Region – by 76.5%, in Ulytau Region – by 21.5%, in Mangystau Region – by 20%, in Zhetysu Region – by 18.6%, in Abai Region – by 17.9%, and in Kostanay Region – by 17.5%.
Among the largest cities, Almaty led in price growth, with services rising by 15.2%. In Astana, the increase was 13.6%, while in Shymkent, prices remained unchanged over the year.
By the end of 2025, the volume of services of Kazakhstani car repair shops reached 435.3 billion tenge. Almaty accounted for 139.3 billion tenge, Astana – 73.1 billion, and Atyrau Region – 34.9 billion. Together, these regions provided 56.8% of the entire market.
In total, about 8,900 car service stations and auto repair shops operated in the country. The most were in Almaty (about 1,300), Karaganda Region (919), and Astana (767).
Compared to the first half of 2020, the volume of car service services has grown approximately 4.3 times.
