At a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Asqarbek Yertaev explained which citizens of Kazakhstan will be classified as Category D by welfare level, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection's classification, Category D means a family is at the poverty line — an economically vulnerable level. Kazakhstan has 1.4 million such families: they have income, but not enough of it, and any unexpected expenses worsen their situation.
For a family to fall into Category D, two or more criteria must coincide: income of 51,000 to 102,000 tenge per person (up to 400,000 tenge for a family of four); an overdue loan held by one of the adult family members; working-age family members not employed; housing with less than 18 square meters per person.
Social support measures will be retained for such families. The welfare level is planned to be assessed monthly.
Recall that from January 1, 2027, certain types of benefits in Kazakhstan will be provided on the principle of need — based on an objective assessment of a family's level of social well-being. It was previously reported who among Kazakhstanis will be classified into categories A (high welfare level), B (affluent), C (income from 305,000 tenge) and E (the most vulnerable category).
