Kazakhstan's women's chess team remains in third place overall at the 46th World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand with two rounds left to play, according to infohub.kz.
In the ninth round, the Kazakh women faced Mongolia. The match ended in a 2:2 draw. Bibisara Assaubayeva and Alua Nurman won their games, while Meruert Kamalidenova and Zarina Nurgaliyeva lost.
This was the third consecutive draw for Kazakhstan's women's team. The national squad now has 15 points. It sits in third place, trailing India on tiebreaks but ahead of Armenia. China leads the standings with 17 points.
Kazakhstan's men's team also drew 2:2 with Poland in the ninth round. Denis Makhnev and Sauat Nurgaliyev drew their games, Aldiyar Ansat won on his board, and Daniyal Sapenov lost.
With 12 points, Kazakhstan's men's team is 33rd overall. Uzbekistan leads with 16 points.
The final rounds of the World Chess Olympiad will be held on September 26 and 27.
