On social media, Kazakhstanis are increasingly reporting symptoms resembling coronavirus: sore throat, cough, loss of taste and smell. However, doctors urge not to self-diagnose, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Health, several respiratory viruses are currently circulating in the country, but there is no increase in morbidity. Specialists characterize the current situation as seasonal.
“At present, there is no increase in viral infections among the population. We are observing background or seasonal current morbidity, and among the viruses identified by our laboratories, there are no unusual viruses,” explained Ainagul Kuatbayeva, director of the branch of the National Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health.
Laboratory studies show that among the sick are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and seasonal coronaviruses. Cases of COVID-19 continue to be detected, but no signs of a new dangerous strain have been recorded.
Specialists remind that even common acute respiratory viral infections can be more severe in children under one year old, pregnant women, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases. If symptoms appear, it is recommended not to self-diagnose but to consult a doctor.
