Kazakhstan has expanded its list of creative activities, allowing entrepreneurs in ten new sectors to reduce their tax burden and access state support, reports infohub.kz.

The amendments, introduced by Minister of Culture and Information Aida Baleva, increased the number of OKED codes related to the creative industry from 43 to 53. The newly added activities include: web portal operations, radio broadcasting, cultural education, advertising agency services, book publishing, other publishing activities, film and video distribution, cinema screenings, other printing, and manufacturing of cork, straw and plaiting materials.

Businesses in these sectors can switch to a special retail tax regime with rates of 2-4% instead of the standard 10-20%, are exempt from VAT, and can apply for preferential loans from the Damu fund, state grants, and free workspace in regional creative hubs.

Earlier, Kazakh President Qasym-Zhomart Toqaev signed amendments to the law on supporting creative industries.
