Dangerous maneuvers by two drivers on the Astana-Petropavlovsk highway became the subject of a police investigation. A video showing cars overtaking each other at high speed appeared on social media and sparked outrage among users.
Witnesses who saw the risky driving not only filmed it but also urged the drivers to obey traffic rules. Such races could lead to tragic consequences.
"After the publication, patrol police identified both offenders. One driver was found in Astana. The second tried to avoid police, did not answer phone calls, but thanks to surveillance cameras, his car was located in the Burabay resort area, where he was arrested," said the Akmola region police department.
Administrative charges were filed against both drivers for traffic violations. During questioning, the men admitted their guilt and assured that they would not endanger themselves or other road users in the future.
