Kazakhstan's Ministry of Defense has issued an official statement regarding a video circulating on social media featuring the head of the department, Lieutenant General of Aviation Dauren Kosanov, according to infohub.kz.
The defense ministry explained that an old video featuring the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General of Aviation Dauren Kosanov, is being circulated on social media with comments linking it to the tragic incident in the Caspian Sea.
"This video was made last year and has nothing to do with the current tragedy and the deaths of servicemen during combat training tasks in the Caspian. We urge social media users not to manipulate archival video materials, not to take them out of context, and not to link them to the tragedy that occurred. On the day when the country mourns the fallen servicemen, we ask for responsibility in spreading information and respect for the families and friends of the deceased servicemen," the ministry said.
Recall that on September 24, during a combat training task, due to a sudden and sharp deterioration in weather conditions and gusty winds, 17 servicemen were swept into the Caspian Sea, 14 of whom died. Three were rescued.
