Starting September 1, 2026, Kazakhstan will introduce mandatory digital labeling for dietary supplements (BAS). All products manufactured or imported after this date must be marked with a Data Matrix code, according to the website infohub.kz.
The Ministry of Health explained that the mandatory traceability system for dietary supplements is planned to be launched on March 1, 2027. From that time, the circulation of products will be accompanied by full electronic document flow and confirmation of each transaction when goods are transferred between market participants. Under the digital labeling system, each product unit will receive a unique Data Matrix code, which is applied to the packaging and recorded in the system of the Unified Operator for Labeling and Traceability of Goods. This will allow tracking the path of goods at all stages—from manufacturer or importer to store shelves.
The state expects that this measure will help ensure transparency and legality in the dietary supplements market, protect honest businesses from unfair competition, and promptly identify violations. As labeling covers a sufficient part of the market, consumers will be able to independently verify the legality of purchased dietary supplements by scanning the Data Matrix code on the packaging in the Naqty Onim app, the Ministry reminded.
Companies operating in the dietary supplements sector need to register in the digital labeling and traceability system (ЦС МПТ) on the portal tanba.markirovka.kz, and also start registering product cards in the system in advance. Registered product cards undergo a moderation procedure that takes time. Therefore, market participants are advised not to delay registration—this will allow them to complete moderation before the requirement takes effect and order labeling codes in a timely manner.
Unlabeled dietary supplement leftovers produced before the mandatory labeling date can be sold by market participants in accordance with the established list until their expiration date, the Ministry stated.
