Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has drafted amendments to the rules for vehicle registration and driving license exams. The changes are intended to simplify public services and eliminate unnecessary procedures, according to infohub.kz.
One key innovation concerns exam retakes. If a candidate fails the test on the first attempt, they can retake it on the next business day. After a second failure, the candidate will be given 10 calendar days to prepare.
However, after three failures, subsequent attempts at both the theory and practical exams will become paid. The ministry believes this measure will encourage candidates to prepare more thoroughly.
In addition, a passing result on the theory exam will no longer be annulled if the candidate fails the practical part.
Another change affects vehicles after modification. They will no longer require a separate inspection—a document confirming the safety of the modifications will suffice.
Exchanging foreign driving licenses will only be possible after successfully passing the theory exam and confirming the document's authenticity by the competent authority of another country through an official request.
The ministry did not specify when the changes will take effect.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing new penalties for drivers who regularly violate traffic rules and ignore fines. And here you can find out which driving schools in Astana and Almaty offer cheaper licenses.
