Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has drafted amendments to the rules for vehicle registration and driving license exams. According to the ministry, the changes aim to simplify and speed up government services and eliminate redundant procedures, reports infohub.kz.
In particular, after a vehicle is modified, a separate inspection will no longer be required — a document confirming the safety of the changes will suffice. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The changes also affect those planning to obtain a driver's license. "If you fail the exam on the first try, you can retake it on the next business day. After a second failure, 10 calendar days are provided for preparation. After three unsuccessful attempts at the theoretical or practical exam, subsequent attempts are subject to a fee. This measure is intended to ensure that candidates come to the exam with solid knowledge," the ministry said.
It was also emphasized that a passing result on the theoretical exam will no longer be annulled if the practical exam is not passed.
Changes have also been made to the procedure for exchanging foreign driver's licenses. "The exchange of foreign driver's licenses will be carried out only after successfully passing the theoretical exam and receiving confirmation of the authenticity of the driver's license from the competent authority of the foreign state upon an official request from the authorized body for road safety. This is protection against forged documents on our roads," the ministry said.
