Since the start of the new school year, police officers in Kazakhstan have carried out extensive preventive work in schools and educational institutions, and now the Ministry of Internal Affairs has appealed to all parents and legal guardians of minors, as well as to student and self-employed youth, infohub.kz reports.
According to the ministry, preventive measures have covered virtually all schools and educational institutions in the country. A total of 16,000 preventive events were held, of which more than 5,000 involved experienced teachers, psychologists and narcologists.
According to Interior Ministry data, 69 minors have been detained to date for drug-related crimes. Of these, 40 teenagers were detained for drug trafficking, 27 for possession of especially large quantities, and 2 for advertising and promoting drugs. Among those detained were 52 boys and 17 girls.
"Dear parents and legal guardians! You should be particularly alarmed by: the sudden appearance of money or expensive items, secrecy with their phone and messages, suspicious screenshots of various objects. The real signs of drug trafficking are, above all, wraps, packets, duct tape, electronic scales and other items. You should pay attention to the teenager's circle of friends and how they spend their free time. Take an interest in their account, who they follow on social media and with whom they maintain trusting relationships in messengers," said Bakhytzhan Amirkhanov, head of the department of the committee for combating drug crime at the Interior Ministry.
