In Kazakhstan, about 75,000 educational grants have been allocated for the 2026-2027 academic year, with 127,000 applicants competing for them, according to infohub.kz.
According to Zhanna Yessimbayeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the state educational order is formed taking into account the labor market's need for qualified personnel. This year, 60% of grants are directed towards training engineering and technical specialists, 20% for pedagogical fields, and the remaining 20% for other specialties.
"Grants were distributed on a competitive basis, taking into account UNT results, chosen educational programs and universities, as well as quotas established by law," noted Yessimbayeva.
Among future students, the most popular programs were "Translation Studies," "International Relations," "Law," "Psychology," "Finance," as well as pedagogical directions.
The results of the competition for awarding educational grants have been approved at a meeting of the Republican Competition Commission. The results will be published on the official page of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, and on the ministry's website.
