Kazakhstanis can now pre-arrange consent for cremation without visiting a notary. The new service is available on the eGov portal, reports infohub.kz.
The eGov portal has introduced a service called "Registration of lifetime will for cremation." To apply, users need to log in, order the service online, and sign the application with a digital signature (ECP). Citizens have the right to change their mind and cancel the decision at any time.
The first crematorium in Kazakhstan opened in April. Since then, more than 40 applications have been received, but only six bodies have been cremated. The service costs 240,000 tenge. The procedure is not performed for those who died a violent death, to preserve the possibility of exhumation.
