A rupture on a trunk gas pipeline in Russia's Penza region has not affected gas supplies to Kazakhstan: Russian gas deliveries are proceeding as normal, and transit to Uzbekistan is running at planned volumes. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy said this in response to a query from a NUR.KZ correspondent, according to infohub.kz.

"Russian gas supplies to the Republic of Kazakhstan are being carried out as normal, under existing contracts and in line with requests. The transit of Russian gas through the territory of Kazakhstan toward Uzbekistan is also proceeding at planned volumes," the ministry said.

The Energy Ministry added that no deviations in the operation of Kazakhstan's gas transmission system had been recorded.

"The incident in question has no impact on gas supplies to consumers in the Republic of Kazakhstan. No requests have been received from Gazprom PJSC through dispatch channels to change the gas supply regime," the statement said.

According to TASS, on October 13 a trunk gas pipeline ruptured and caught fire in the village of Volchkovo in the Belinsky district of Russia's Penza region. According to preliminary data from the regional Emergency Situations Ministry department, there were no deaths or injuries.

Gazprom Transgaz Saratov said the damaged section had been shut off and consumers are being supplied via alternative routes. Specialists are preparing for repair work.
