In Kazakhstan, false information is circulating about the need to extend the marriage registration period. The Ministry of Justice warns citizens about a fraudulent scheme, reports infohub.kz.

According to the ministry's press service, messages demanding to "extend the marriage registration period" are being spread on social media and through second-tier bank apps. The ministry emphasizes that this information is fraudulent.

Official representative of the Ministry of Justice Talgat Uali explained: according to family legislation, marriage is registered once and has no expiration date, so its extension is not required. Marriage can only be terminated through divorce by application of one or both spouses, as well as in other cases provided by law.

Divorce is carried out through the registering authority or in court. When divorcing through the registering authority, the marriage is terminated from the date of state registration, and in court - from the day the court decision comes into legal force.

In this regard, the Ministry of Justice urges citizens not to trust such messages, not to click on links, and not to provide personal data to third parties. For reliable information, it is recommended to refer only to official sources.
