The Fencing Federation of Kazakhstan has announced the national team roster for the Summer Asian Games to be held in Japan, reports infohub.kz.
Kazakh athletes will compete in all three disciplines: sabre, foil, and epee. In individual events, two fencers per weapon will participate, while in team events, three main athletes and one reserve are named.
The team includes national leaders, including winners of the recent World Fencing Championships in epee. In men's epee, Ruslan Kurbanov, Kirill Prokhodov, as well as Yerlik Sertay and Vadim Sharlaimov (for team events) will compete. Women's epee will be represented by Irina Bakaldina, Vladislava Andreyeva, Sofia Nikolaichuk, and Darya Samodelkina (team).
In men's sabre, Artem Sarkisyan, Nurmukhammed Zhailybay, Nazarbay Sattarkhan, and Kuanysh Yergashbay (team) will defend the country's honor. Women's sabre is represented by Anastassiya Gulik, Aigerim Sarybay, Karina Dospay, and Kaisha Zhanibek (team).
In foil, men's events will feature Galim Nurumov, Timofey Semyonov, and Tamirlan Kaliyev (team), while women's foil will be contested by Sofia Aktayeva, Alyona Gnoyeva, and Alina Iskanderova (team).
The fencing competitions at the 2026 Asian Games will take place from September 22 to 27 in Japan's Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya.
