According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there are no Kazakh citizens among the dead or injured as a result of the attacks in Riyadh, infohub.kz reports.
King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi Arabian capital came under a series of missile and drone attacks. Responsibility for the attacks was placed on Yemen's Houthis.
The latest massive attack killed 12 people and injured another 309 with varying degrees of severity. Among the dead are citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan.
Due to infrastructure damage, the airport temporarily suspended operations, and flights were redirected to other regions. The Houthis declared Saudi Arabian airspace a zone of military operations.
Major international carriers began to massively adjust their flight schedules. Lufthansa fully suspended flights to Riyadh until October 16, 2026, while Air India canceled its flights to the Saudi capital.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Saudi Arabia extended the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh following a missile attack that killed 12 people and injured more than 300. According to the Associated Press, the airport will remain closed at least until the evening of October 11. The strike is believed to have been carried out by Yemen's Houthis, an Iran-backed armed movement.
