After several years of steady growth in Kazakhstan's international reserves, a trend of gradual decline has emerged in 2026. As of the end of June, the volume of freely convertible currency (FCC) in the country's gold and foreign exchange reserves stood at $14.3 billion, equivalent to 23.1% of total reserves. Over the month, this figure decreased by 3.6%, reports infohub.kz.

FCC is the second most significant component of Kazakhstan's gold and foreign exchange reserves after gold. The monthly decline of 3.6% reflects the overall dynamics of the country's international reserves.

Despite the prolonged period of growth in previous years, a gradual reduction in the volume of reserves is being observed this year. Experts attribute this trend to several factors, including the specifics of reserve asset management, fluctuations in the value of gold and securities, and changes in global exchange rates.

At the same time, the total volume of international reserves remains significantly above the levels recorded in previous years, confirming their important role as a tool for ensuring the country's financial stability.
