Kazakhstani track athlete Maksim Frolovsky secured a top-six finish in the men's 10,000 meters at the 20th Asian Summer Games 2026, hosted by Japan's Aichi-Nagoya region, according to infohub.kz.
Frolovsky was Kazakhstan's sole representative in the event. He opened with a notable breakaway, but was eventually caught by some rivals and later dropped from the lead pack.
He ultimately finished sixth in 30 minutes 22.6 seconds, nearly two minutes behind winner Birhanu Balew of Bahrain. India's Gulveer Singh took silver, while another Bahraini, Albert Kiptoo, completed the podium.
In the evening session, the 400-meter qualifiers were also held. In the women's event, Mariya Shuvalova advanced to the final with the fourth-fastest time of 53.06 seconds. Fellow Kazakhstani Aleksandra Zalyubovskaya placed ninth (53.93), narrowly missing a spot in the decisive round.
In the men's event, the national team had no finalists. Elnur Mukhitdinov finished 19th (47.30), and Andrey Sokolov was 23rd (48.42).
