Kazakhstan has decided not to keep the funeral benefit for citizens with a high level of well-being, an explanation given at a briefing at the Central Communications Service, where the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population was asked a corresponding question, reports infohub.kz.
The journalist asking the question noted that the funeral benefit had not been enough to organize a funeral even before, and asked why it was not retained at least as a sign of condolence.
"Here, regarding categories A and B, I will repeat once again: we examined the criteria of need and believe that benefits should first of all be directed to citizens who truly need social support," commented Minister of Labor and Social Protection Asqarbek Yertaev.
It was previously reported that from January 1, 2027, certain types of benefits, as well as the one-time funeral benefit, will be provided in Kazakhstan on the principle of need based on an objective assessment of a family's level of social well-being. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population explained which Kazakhstanis will be classified into categories A (with a high level of well-being), B (affluent), C (with income from 305,000), D (at the poverty line), and E (the most vulnerable category).
