From January 1, 2027, Kazakhstan's one-time funeral benefit will become means-tested, with applicants required to consent to checks of their bank accounts and credit debts, according to infohub.kz.
Under the new rules, applicants must agree to the collection, processing, verification, updating, and transfer of personal data, including information protected by banking secrecy. To determine a family's level of well-being, a request will be sent to the Digital Family Map.
If errors are found in the documents or they are incomplete, the benefit application will be placed in a digital waiting list. Citizens will be given three working days to correct any deficiencies.
When the service is provided electronically, no application will be required — all information will be requested automatically from digital systems.
If the applicant is classified as needy based on their level of social well-being, they will receive an SMS about the possibility of receiving the benefit through the E-Maket system.
Recall that from January 1, 2027, Kazakhstan will change the procedure for paying 10 benefits. The government has approved new need criteria, under which wealthy families will no longer be able to receive financial support from the state. The list includes key social payments, among them a one-time benefit for the birth of a child, a monthly child care allowance, and payments to large families.
The level of social well-being of a family in Kazakhstan is assessed in points. Income, housing, cars, employment, loans, social risks, and other indicators are taken into account.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a large-scale reform of state benefits in Kazakhstan will save the national budget 2.5 trillion tenge over three years. At the same time, about 522,000 Kazakhstanis may lose state support.
