Kazakhstan is considering the introduction of a new train ticket sales system that would allow only men or only women to share a compartment. This is reported by infohub.kz.
The discussion was sparked by a post from a Kazakh woman under the username Baby27alien on the social network Threads. She suggested adopting Turkey's practice, where tickets for compartments are sold based on the passenger's gender: if a man buys the first ticket, only men can buy tickets for that compartment, and vice versa. The author wondered why such a practice is not applied in Kazakhstan.
The press service of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" responded to the inquiry. They stated that the system is already being studied by the company's specialists. "Hello! This system is already being studied by our specialists. The question of implementing the system will be considered later. We note that the national carrier has already introduced the 'women's car' service on key routes," the press service said.
