The 2026 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships have begun in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Kazakhstan's national team has already started competing at the tournament, the website infohub.kz reports.

Kazakhstan is represented at the competition in the Netherlands by a men's team only. On Sunday the team took part in the qualification segment.

In the individual all-around, performances on all six apparatus counted toward the standings. The 24 best results advanced to the final, with no more than two gymnasts from any one team.

Kazakhstan's Nurthan Idrisov scored a total of 79.665 points to finish 17th, earning him a place in the final. Ilyas Azizov placed 35th (77.631) and lost any chance of a medal.

In the individual apparatus events, the eight strongest gymnasts advanced to the final — again with no more than two from any one country. Kazakhstan's Nariman Kurbanov qualified for the decisive round on pommel horse with the second-best qualification result. At the 2024 Olympics he won silver in this exercise.

In the team all-around, the eight strongest teams advanced to the final. Kazakhstan's team finished 12th with a total of 237.594 points.

In vault, the team's gymnasts had no qualification attempts in the fight for a final place. In the other four events the Kazakhs did not reach the decisive round, and their best results were as follows: floor exercise — Ilyas Azizov, 15th place; rings — Nurthan Idrisov, 19th place; parallel bars — Nurthan Idrisov, 38th place; horizontal bar — Milad Karimi, 70th place.

The individual all-around final featuring Idrisov is scheduled for October 22. Kurbanov will compete for a medal in the pommel horse exercise on October 24.
