Kazakhstan continues to implement a special social payment for workers who have long been employed in hazardous conditions. According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the number of recipients has exceeded 26,000, and the total amount of payments has reached 24 billion tenge, reports infohub.kz.
As of June 1, 2026, 26,100 workers are receiving the special social payment. Compared to the same period last year, the number of recipients has increased by almost 3,700 people.
"The special social payment is provided to citizens who meet the conditions established by law, and allows them to end their employment in hazardous conditions or transition to safer work while retaining financial support," the Ministry of Labor said.
The payment is financed from several sources, including a special professional state allowance, insurance payments, employer contributions, and funds accumulated from mandatory professional pension contributions.
The ministry noted that the program aims to provide additional social support to citizens who have worked for many years in hazardous production conditions, and assured that efforts to improve social protection and occupational safety mechanisms will continue.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that starting July 2026, Kazakhstan updated its voluntary resettlement program to regions with labor shortages. The maximum amount of the economic mobility certificate was increased to 7 million tenge, which can be used to purchase housing. Participants also have access to relocation subsidies, compensation for rent and utilities, and employment assistance. Since 2017, 73,900 people have joined the program, with 31,000 finding permanent jobs.
