Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health has drafted rules for the automated registration and recording of individuals who are medically cleared, or who have medical contraindications, to drive a motor vehicle. The document has been put out for public discussion on the Open NPAs portal, infohub.kz reports.

Under the draft order, data from medical examinations will be transmitted automatically from the information systems of medical organizations to the state digital healthcare system and updated without citizens having to submit additional applications.

"Authorized bodies will be provided with information on drivers' medical clearance, the vehicle categories they are permitted to drive and the validity periods of the conclusions, while ensuring the confidentiality of personal medical data," the document says.

The Ministry of Health believes that implementing the project will cut administrative procedures, make public services more accessible and improve road safety.

The draft order is open for public discussion until November 10.

It was previously reported that, as of August 25, drivers over 65 and drivers with disabilities in Kazakhstan are required to undergo a medical examination every two years.
