Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health has announced plans to preserve the option of independent pediatric units in polyclinics, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Central Communications Service, the ministry intends to maintain the possibility of operating separate pediatric units in polyclinics, provided that the necessary specialists are available. This will allow children to continue receiving primary medical care directly from pediatricians at their place of registration.
The ministry emphasized that the proposed changes are aimed at strengthening pediatric services and do not involve abandoning general practitioners. Medical organizations will be able to determine the most suitable model for providing care to children, taking into account staffing and the needs of the population.
Pediatric units ensure continuous monitoring of a child's health, including preventive check-ups, assessment of physical and psychomotor development, early detection of diseases, and timely referral to specialists. Such monitoring is especially important for young children.
At the same time, the ministry is increasing the training of pediatricians. In 2026, 123 specialists were trained, and in 2027, another 91 doctors are expected to graduate.
