Traffic restrictions on Kazakhstan's national highways can now be introduced in advance — 3-4 hours before a sharp deterioration in weather. This procedure is set out in an interagency cooperation plan approved by the government, according to infohub.kz.
As explained by the national company KazAvtoZhol, road services are required to act proactively: not after an emergency arises, but before it becomes a threat to road users.
"If a Kazhydromet forecast indicates a sharp deterioration in weather conditions, traffic restrictions may be introduced 3-4 hours before the onset of adverse phenomena. This will allow the public to be warned in advance and give drivers the opportunity to complete their trip before the situation sharply deteriorates," the statement said.
KazAvtoZhol's information systems are integrated with the platforms Yandex, 2GIS and inDrive. When a national highway is closed or opened, the information is updated automatically and taken into account by the services when building routes.
The 1403 contact center operates around the clock. Artificial intelligence technologies are being introduced to promptly handle the large volume of requests. Since the beginning of the year, more than 1 million requests have been processed, the national company added.
