Kazakhstan has introduced a free service that helps relatives quickly learn if a person has been hospitalized. If a citizen is involved in an accident or is urgently admitted to a hospital, their family will receive an SMS. However, for the system to work, trusted contacts must be registered in advance in the eGov Mobile app, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new service "Registration of trusted contacts for notification in case of hospitalization" is now available in the app. You can specify up to three trusted persons who will be notified in the event of your hospitalization.

On the eGov.kz portal, you need to: log in; select the service "Registration of trusted contacts for notification in case of hospitalization"; enter the IIN of the trusted person.

It is noted that trusted persons can only be Kazakh citizens over 18 years old who are also registered in the Mobile Citizens Database.

"After that, the user confirms consent to the processing of personal data and the transfer of health information, and sends the request. The specified person will receive an SMS with an offer to confirm or reject the registration," the statement says.

To confirm, you need to reply with SMS code 911, to reject – 912. You have up to five hours to make a decision.

As for the eGov Mobile app, the service is located in the "Government Services" – "Healthcare" section.

"The user will need to select the trusted contacts registration service and go through a similar procedure. The information system processes the application in up to 10 minutes," the statement says.

The current registration status is displayed on the eGov.kz portal in the "My Profile – Personal Account" section, and in eGov Mobile – in the "Messages – Personal Account History" section.
