In the Mangistau region, attempts to illegally export large volumes of diesel fuel have been prevented. The incidents were recorded at the Tazhen customs post, reports infohub.kz.
As reminded by the Department of State Revenues for the Mangistau region, Kazakhstan has a ban on the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain types of petroleum products by road transport from May 21 to November 21, including to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Despite the restrictions, some drivers engaged in international transportation are trying to circumvent the ban by installing additional fuel tanks on trucks that are not provided for by the factory design. Such violations are regularly detected and suppressed by inspectors at the Tazhen customs post.
In particular, a driver of a DAF truck was found to have an additional tank with a volume of 180 liters, completely filled with diesel fuel. Other violators attempted to export from 70 to 500 liters of fuel.
Based on these facts, the Beyneu District Court considered a series of administrative cases under Article 545 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In all cases, the violators were international drivers, mostly citizens of Uzbekistan, who tried to export diesel fuel through the customs post.
"In all cases, the court found the drivers guilty, confiscated the fuel to the state revenue, and imposed a fine of 15 MCI (64,875 tenge) on each. The court took into account the admission of guilt and repentance of the violators, but left the sanction in full, as provided by law," added the regional DGD.
The department warned that customs post officers conduct not only a formal check of documents but also a thorough inspection of vehicles, identifying makeshift additional tanks that drivers often fill at gas stations for subsequent export.
