Passengers on Kazakh airlines could have access to in-flight internet as early as October 2026. Damir Seisembekov, chairman of the Telecommunications Committee, announced this at a government briefing while answering journalists' questions about plans to improve service, according to infohub.kz.
According to the committee head, Air Astana already has relevant plans. The state, for its part, has removed all obstacles: necessary legislative amendments were adopted, and a presidential decree was issued in June. "There are essentially no barriers to launching the internet now. We are actively working on this issue with Air Astana. We expect the first aircraft with internet in October. There are two streams: with Viasat and with OneWeb," Damir Seisembekov said.
However, the question of payment for the service remains open. The chairman of the Telecommunications Committee was unable to say whether internet would be included in the ticket price. "On payment, Air Astana would probably be better placed to comment. According to their statements, they have various bonus systems, loyalty programs, and so on. That's not a question for us," he said.
