The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has summarized the results of the fight against drug crime, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to Polisia.kz, since the beginning of the year, 17 underground laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs have been liquidated in the country. The activities of seven organized criminal groups have been suppressed, and 12 criminal cases have been initiated against them. Nine leaders of organized criminal groups and 41 group members have been detained.
"The volume of seized 'powder' amounted to 865 kg - this is millions of doses of synthetic drugs that were prevented from entering illegal circulation. We are talking about tens of thousands of prevented cases of addiction, preserved health of citizens, and saved human lives. The involvement of teenagers in the drug environment is of particular concern," the police noted.
Currently, 55 minors have been detained, 32 of whom are involved in drug sales. Measures are also being taken to undermine the financial component of the drug business.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 10,000 card accounts totaling 258 million tenge have already been frozen. Transaction operations on 215,000 foreign card accounts involved in shadow financial schemes of drug trafficking have been restricted. 8,500 drug-related websites have been blocked.
