Ahead of the new school year, Kazakh police have taken additional measures to ensure children's safety on the roads, reports infohub.kz.
With only days left until September 1, the police, together with state bodies and local administrations (akimats), are stepping up efforts to prevent child injuries and offenses as part of the "Attention, Children!" campaign.
In particular, traffic control near schools and other educational institutions has been intensified. Police officers are checking the condition of pedestrian crossings, road signs, and markings, as well as the safety of school buses and child transportation.
As a result of inspections of road infrastructure near educational institutions, 548 orders have already been issued.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded drivers to observe speed limits and be especially vigilant near schools.
"Drivers must remember that adhering to speed limits and traffic rules, and most importantly, being attentive behind the wheel and ready for the unexpected appearance of children on the road, is the key to preserving our children's lives," the ministry stated.
Parents are also advised to remind their children in advance about safe behavior on the street, at school, and on public transport.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs sees no problems in preventing road accidents among schoolchildren, despite an increase in pedestrian incidents.
