Kazakh companies sold $1.142 billion worth of IT services abroad in 2025, compared with just $30 million in 2019, according to the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, which released a seven-year review of the sector's changes, infohub.kz reports.
"Over seven years under the leadership of President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev, Kazakhstan has undergone a large-scale digital transformation and entered a new stage of technological development," the ministry said.
Of the total IT exports, $633 million came from residents of Astana Hub. The ministry also reported that exports of space technology grew from zero to $70 million. It views these figures as a shift from digitizing domestic services to selling technology on foreign markets.
According to the ministry, internet coverage rose from 84% to 98% between 2019 and 2026. Average speeds increased from 21 to 88–94 Mbps. The country is also rolling out 5G connectivity.
The share of digitized government services climbed from 80% to 91% over the period, with 96% of digital public services accessible via smartphone. In the UN e-Government Development Index, Kazakhstan moved up from 39th to 24th place among 193 countries.
The scale of cashless payments also changed: their volume grew from 13.3 trillion to 186.3 trillion tenge — roughly 14 times, the ministry estimated.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that artificial intelligence had begun monitoring vehicle assembly in Kazakhstan.
