Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov at a government meeting questioned Minister of Labor and Social Protection Askarbek Yertayev about the labor market situation and the number of available vacancies, reports the website infohub.kz.
Minister Yertayev reported that since the beginning of the year, employers have posted applications for 845,000 vacancies on the electronic labor exchange, of which 432,000 are for blue-collar professions. According to him, 60-70% of citizens find work through this portal, but for 30-40% of vacancies it is not possible to select employees, so companies are forced to temporarily attract foreign labor. Every year, about 300,000 foreigners arrive in the country for employment.
The head of government clarified whether there is an opportunity for employment for everyone who wants to work. "More than 800,000, about 1 million vacancies exist, right? That is, for those who want to work, a job will be found, right? We are forced to attract thousands of specialists from abroad! To keep work from stopping, right?" he asked. After the labor minister confirmed, Olzhas Bektenov emotionally commented on the situation in Kazakhstan's labor market: "This must be explained to the people! There should be no words in the country — 'No work'. That does not exist."
