Nearly 42% of all job vacancies in Kazakhstan are in skilled trades, the service sector and agriculture. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population has outlined which specialists employers need most, according to infohub.kz.
The ministry estimates that the country's economy will need about 2.9 million workers by 2035. Skilled trades are a particular focus: modern manufacturing requires specialists who can operate equipment, carry out complex technological processes and master new production technologies.
According to the Enbek.kz portal, 42.3% of all vacancies are for service, trade and agriculture workers, as well as skilled workers in industry, construction and transport, and equipment operators.
As for the overall labor market, 9.4 million people were employed in Kazakhstan in the second quarter of 2026, with an unemployment rate of 4.5%. The ministry notes, however, that the quality of employment also matters — job stability, pay levels, respect for labor rights and safety.
"One of the benchmarks of state employment policy is to increase the number of quality jobs. Under the Labor Market Development Concept, their number is to reach 3.8 million by 2029," the Ministry of Labor said.
Quality jobs are defined as those providing at least six months of employment a year, pay no lower than the median wage in the region, safe working conditions and social protection.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on Labor Day. He wished citizens good health, prosperity and new achievements in their work.
