In Kazakhstan, fraudulent information is spreading about the need to “extend the marriage registration period” through second-tier bank apps, reports infohub.kz.
Official representative of the Ministry of Justice Talgat Uali explained that under family law, marriage is registered once and has no set validity period, so no extension is required.
Marriage can only be terminated by divorce upon application of one or both spouses, or in other cases provided by law.
Divorce is carried out through the registering authority or in court. In the first case, the marriage ends on the date of state registration of the divorce; in the second, on the date the court decision takes legal effect.
The Ministry of Justice urged citizens not to trust such messages, not to click on links contained in them, and not to share personal data with third parties.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that fraudsters increasingly use artificial intelligence and other technologies to steal money and personal data of Kazakhstanis. Common schemes include calls from fake bank employees and law enforcement, messages about allegedly approved loans, phishing links, and voice cloning of relatives.
The Astana prosecutor's office reminded that one should not disclose SMS codes, passwords, CVV/CVC codes, or bank card details to strangers, install remote access apps at the direction of unknown persons, or transfer money to so-called “safe accounts.”
